SAVANNAH, Ga. -- Cities rolled out snow plows that hardly ever leave the garage, a hardware store sold feed scoops for use as snow shovels and alligators in the Okefenokee Swamp burrowed into mud to stay warm Tuesday as a winter storm brought snow, ice and brutal cold to the Deep South, a part of the country more accustomed to hurricanes.

Creeping landslide devouring part of Wyoming town

    Saturday, April 19 2014 5:52 PM EDT2014-04-19 21:52:44 GMT
A sudden lurch in a creeping landslide in the northwest Wyoming resort town of Jackson split a house in two and forced workers to abandon efforts to stabilize the hillside.
No one can say precisely when the mountainside collapsing into this Wyoming resort town will give way. But it appears increasingly likely that when it does, it's going to take a piece of Jackson with it.

A wet unsettled day is underway for South Florida. We have a front lifting North and that will draw in lots of moisture. On Friday, an area of low pressure will develop along the front in the Gulf of Mexico and help pump in more tropical moisture.

It will definitely not be as hot and humid like Tuesday. A front has currently stalled over the Florida straits and a brief wind out of the North-Northeast is drawing in more comfortable air. However, that will only last a couple hours.

We are feeling the heat and it is all thanks to a cold front on the move. This front is allowing winds to veer out of the South-Southwest helping to draw in the hot air from the Gulf of Mexico.
