A lion was loose on South Beach last night, but there was no reason to call animal control. The beast helped diners ring in Chinese New Year at Philippe Chow Miami and if i say it wasn't spectacular i'd be lyin'.
Chinese New Year got off to a roaring start Monday at Philippe Chow Miami. The year of the dragon officially got underway when a smiling buddah led his buddy through the crowd.
ANDREW KAPLAN: "We kicked off the Chinese New Year the year of the dragon with the traditional chinese dragon dance parade along with a great drum band."
The parade is meant to bring good luck to everyone on-hand and if you were really lucky, you got to try the one-night-only green dragon cocktail.
ANDREW KAPLAN: "It's a tanteo jalapeno based tequila drink with cucumber puree and cucumber."
The folks at Philippe Chow don't need a holiday to celebrate they're digging their new home on ocean drive.
ANDREW KAPLAN: "December second was our official grand opening we closed down the gansevort restaurant in july."
The location may have changed but fans of Philippe's will be happy to know the menu's remained the same some of those fans have fans of their own.
ANDREW KAPLAN: "We have Jay-Z and Beyonce of course and P-Diddy when he's in town we also have Mick Jagger, Lady Gaga those are just to name a few but you know they're always popping in and out of here."
You don't have to be a big name to have a memorable meal at Philippe Chow Miami.
ANDREW KAPLAN: "Everybody's in awe all the time."
