Deco Features: Pearl Restaurant and Champagne Lounge

They didn't invent champagne at Pearl it just feels like they did. Owner Michael Penrod told Deco why Pearl Restaurant and Champagne Lounge has 305 thirsty for more.

MICHAEL PENROD: "The allure of a champagne bar is you can come here and get any of your favorite champagnes if you want a blanc de blanc by the glass you can get that if you want cristal by the glass you can get that so you don't need to buy the whole bottle."

There's almost 20 varieties of champagne to choose from, which means you can spend the evening at Pearl and come away with an education and a buzz.

MICHAEL PENROD: "You can come here with your friends and try different champagnes it's a fun way to get to know champagne."

Pearl morphed into Club Nikki in the mid-2000's it may have been gone, but it was definitely not forgotten.

MICHAEL PENROD: "It was one of the chic restaurants in South Beach one of the first true trendy restaurants and so a lot of people remember that they remember the good old days coming to Pearl having the entertainment seeing the who's who all the celebrities and they asked us "can you bring pearl back?" and let's try to re-do what we did in the past."

That's pretty much what Michael did.

MICHAEL PENROD: "We brought back a very similar look so a lot of people come in and they think it hasn't changed."

One thing that has changed at pearl is the menu it's gone global.

MICHAEL PENROD: "There's food from all over the world we have food from asia from Europe from Latin America and from America."

There's a brand of bubbly to go with every meal at pearl, but you don't have to be hungry to hang out.

MICHAEL PENROD: "People like to sit around have champagne and talk to their friends."

The folks at Pearl wanted to wish one of their friends all the best.
