It's that time of year again...Miami Spice. Time to dig into your couch cushions and find some extra change cause during spice a few bucks can get you a lot of food.

Get used to having a lot on your plate. During Miami Spice you can try the best eats in so-flo without breaking the bank.

FERDINAND ORTIZ JR: "You get a three course menu for lunch and for dinner and you get it at a reduced price."

One of the newbies to this two month long food-fest is Lantao Kitchen and cocktails at the Surfcomber Hotel.

FERDINAND ORTIZ JR: "This food is a little exotic. It takes you to the regions of south east Asia."

The lunch and dinner Spice menus are different and don't disappoint.

The ribs are cooked for 6 hours and then fried to a crisp. The fish in the tacos is fresh from the Atlantic and you'll oodle over a bowl of street noodles.

FERDINAND ORTIZ JR: "We have street noodle which you can find anywhere around south east Asia-which is a quick noodle dish that packs a lot of flavor. All the flavor is concentrated on the fresh ingredients as well as the broth."

But the cherry on top of Lantao's Miami Spice menu comes with a cherry on top.

FERDINAND ORTIZ JR: "Desserts should be the finish, and the finish should be fun."

Lantao's Miami Spice desserts are fun, filling and fantastic.

FERDINAND ORTIZ JR: "We thought we would switch it up a little bit and make it a little different."

You'll flip for the upside down pear cake. And the chocolate melt down cake will melt in your mouth.

FERDINAND ORTIZ JR: "All the flavor we are able to get in this little little cake def. warrant a whole glass of milk."

The forbidden black rice pudding is so good. You'll forbid anyone from taking a taste.

FERDINAND ORTIZ JR: "It's very different than what you would find in a regular rice pudding it actually takes 10 hrs to cook time. it's like 25 cups of water to one cup of rice. Its a labor of love as well. It takes a long time to make."

The rice is sweetened and topped with dragon fruit coolie, salted coconut whipped cream and sesame seeds.

FERDINAND ORTIZ JR: "It tastes kind of like a regular rice pudding but it's a little deeper. I would equate it to a sweet risotto."

Or you can finish your meal with a grown up cherry- vanilla float.

FYI, you may get carded.

FERDINAND ORTIZ JR: "We carry 9 different types of Asian beer. One of the beers is Laudark it goes really well with ice cream, so i came up and said why don't I make a float for adults."

It's kind of like a beer milkshake with a cherry on top.

FERDINAND ORTIZ JR: "I use amaretto cherries, really nice. we use premium vanilla ice cream, a little bit of whip cream and pour the beer on top of it."

Miami spice is a sweet deal and the desserts at Lantao are a sweet finish.
