South Florida is technically in the south, but we are far from southern one restaurant has southern cookin' chased with down home drinkin'.
Hey ya'll welcome to Brother Jimmy's BBQ in Mary Brickell Village.
JIMMY GOLDMAN: "Brother Jimmys is a really fun casual dining restaurant that has a real awesome BBQ where we smoke everything 8 to 12 hours."
Brother Jimmy's has been a New York institution for years and after years of hanging out with Yankees it was time head south.
JIMMY GOLDMAN: "It's the first Brother Jimmys actually south of the Mason Dixon Line."
This BBQ mecca was started by a guy who went to college in North Carolina where he learned to love southern BBQ and college sports.
JIMMY GOLDMAN: "It has a great bar scene we do a great sports program and its just awesome awesome bbq and southern food."
When you come here come hungry.
JIMMY GOLDMAN: "Our ribs are huge and not those puny ribs. they are jumbo St. louis 3 1/2 and down ribs."
And go hog wild for the pork.
JIMMY GOLDMAN: "Collard greens and pulled pork are the national dish of Brother Jimmys the pork is pork butts that have been smoked for 9-12 hrs."
Jimmy's sides could be a meal they've got fried green tomatoes, black eyed peas and hush puppies. And they're frying up the brussel sprouts and the pickles
JIMMY GOLDMAN: "The fried pickles the frickels. Its prob the most fun item on the menu."
You don't just eat the pickles you're drinking the juice.
JIMMY GOLDMAN: "A pickle back is w/ an Irish whisky."
A shot of whiskey chased with a shot of pickle juice.
JIMMY GOLDMAN: "It just takes the bite off of it when you add pickle juice."
If you want something a little bigger Carolina cooler is a shout out to jimmy's alma mater and the sweet kim is made with an organic spirit.
JIMMY GOLDMAN: "If you love rootbeer you are going to love this drink."
But if you want something even bigger grab a straw and some friends for the swamp water you won't believe your eyes when it comes to the size.
JIMMY GOLDMAN: "It's 64 oz. of lemonade and vodka and lemon liquor its crazy."
The drinks here go from small to medium to large to call me a cab.
JIMMY GOLDMAN: "Trash can punch is a glass trash can. It holds 2.5 gallons of mixed liquor."
This is like that punch you got a frat parities just with better booze.
JIMMY GOLDMAN: "I wanted to be the place you come 3 times a week. one night for dinner, one night to the bar, one night for a date or to watch a game."
