Seeing a Cirque du Soleil show is an amazing experience, but if you can't see the show in person under the big tent, there is an alternative. Director James Cameron is bringing the magic of cirque to the big screen it's a full lenght feature film called "World's Away."

"World's Away" is a new 3-d epic from director James Cameron. He's gone from the blue aliens of Avatar, to the death defying acrobats and wild creatures of Cirque Du Soleil.

The film tells the story of mia, a young girl who runs off and joins the circus. But she soon finds out, this is no ordinary circus.

ERICA LINZ: "She's just kind of a quirky girl who doesn't fit in in the small town where she's from across this circus there's a handsome gentleman. They have a connection  they get swept away into this crazy magical world of cirque du soleil."

The film blends performances from several cirque shows, including kah, zumanity and myst-dire. Cameron put his cameras right in the middle of the action.

LEU STROPE: "James cameron got in there with a camera in his hands and got shots that are phenomenal. At every show we had cameras on cranes, high low at o we put a camera underwater so we could get right in the thick of things right where the artists are."

Sometimes the cameras got a little too close.

LEU STROPE: "At one point i was flying through the air and I kicked a 3-d camera, it's up close and personal."

If you want to see all the beauty and danger of a cirque show "World's Away" puts you in the best seat in the house.
