Everybody knows Miami is the Magic City. In Mark Wahlberg's new suspense thriller, New York is a "Broken City". The movie's a throwback to those realistic crime thrillers Jack Nicholson and Al Pacino from back in the day. At least, that's what Mark said when we caught up with him and co-star Natalie Martinez recently.
In "Broken City", mark wahlberg plays a private eye out for revenge after being used by a crooked mayor to do his dirty work. He told Deco the film reminds him of the gritty cop dramas on the 1970's.
MARK WAHLBERG: "I'm old school you know I grew up watching movies with my dad the first movie I ever saw in the theater was "Hard Times" with Charles Bronson and James Coburn."
For Marky, "Broken City" brought back memories of two classics in particular.
Mark wants the film to lead his fans to other movies just like it.

NATALIE MARTINEZ: "It's sad because after being in a relationship for seven years with someone and going through all that especially what we came together for it's kinda sad, but it's reality it's what happens sometimes."
What Natalie didn't find sad was the fact that her character is an actress.

NATALIE MARTINEZ: "It's just funny you know sometimes when you have to kinda pretend to be in a movie within a movie so it's kinda changing your character just a little bit you know it's funny is what it is it's funny."
Mark hopes moviegoers appreciate the character-driven nature of "Broken City."
