Archived Reports:
The first Friday in March means two things: One, you have six weeks to get you taxes in and two, it's time for Zoo Miami's annual fundraiser. Grab a fork, but don't worry, none of the exhibits at the zoo are on the menu.
It's time to talk, walk and eat with the animals at Zoo Miami. It's time for Feast with the Beast.
RON MAGILL: "The Feast with the Beast is the greatest single fundraiser on the face of the planet. Its where you can come here and examine foods from 40 of the best restaurants in South Florida. He's not on the dish by the way, he's not cooked. This is the zoo you have to make it look good."
Feast is a night time event, but since Deco is the coolest, we got daytime preview of this year's bash.
RON MAGILL: "You have places like kitchen 305, Chef Adrienne. You got Shulas 347. Its some of the best restaurants in South Florida. You have some of the best dishes. You have bars located throughout the area. You have entertainment going on. It is a party."
ADRIANNE CALVO: "Feast with the Beast is super fun because its not the madness of other food feast. But its a huge group of people and they are also loyal fans of the zoo. So you get to interact and you get to meet new people all the time. Its a great event if you love food and you love having a great time."
By day, Zoo Miami is full of family fun by night it's a shin dig.
RON MAGILL: "Its not one of these stuffy things where you go to a hotel and you get a hotel conference room, and you sit down for that piece of rubber chicken. No no no, this is good food and with exotic people exotic animals. The ambiance, this natural ambiance. What you see on the TV screen that doesn't do this justice. The lights, the plants, the tree, the people, the sounds. When you walk through you might here."
You can really be a party animal here.
RON MAGILL: "You see me here with our wonderful alligator. You are going to have wonderful staff members walking around the zoo in different areas. You'll see them and meet and great and you'll get to take your pictures. People making comments about the animals. Its just a great opp to get up close and personal with some of the animals."
It's not just about the animals who live at the zoo, our favorite zoo guy, Ron Magill has some fashion advice for the animals visiting the zoo.
RON MAGILL: "We don't want to see T-shirts and jeans. No no, this is a little fancier than that. But you don't have to be black tie."
RON MAGILL: "Its nice dress up. People can get dressed up. But let me give you a little hint. As much as I want to see yo ladies in those hot 4 inch heels, don't wear them that night because you've got some walking to do."
Feast with the Beast is a great fundraiser for the zoological society. But if only they could bottle and sell some of ron's enthusiasm. They would make bank.
