Deco Features: Sevyn Streeter
Sevyn Streeter may not be a household name, but that's about to change. The Florida native has written hits songs for the likes of Chris Brown and Alicia Keys. Now she's decided to step into the spotlight herself.
SEVYN STREETER: "Aside from being signed to Chris Brown I've actually written a lot of records with him inn terms of his fame and fortune albums I wrote about 6 or 7 songs on each with him."
Sevyn's collaboration with Chris has continued on his upcoming album, "X" they co-wrote the first single, "Fine China."
She also put her stamp on "The Way," the big hit from Nickelodeon's Ariana Grande.
Writing songs with big stars can sometimes be a bumpy ride things don't always have to go smoothly to be successful.
SEVYN STREETER: "You get your best records like that when you're in there and you're having a conversation like this and you know. I feel like women feel like this...well I feel like men feel like this, and next thing you know you have this record that both men and women they mess with they agree with they feel it."
Now that she's a solo artist, Sevyn's writing for herself, by herself she's making sure her music reflects who she is.
SEVYN STREETER: "Like I grew up singing in church so you know urban R&B is how I sing soulful is how I sing, but I write pop records as well so you know I gotta be true to myself."
Having worked so closely with Chris Brown, what's the one thing Sevyn knows about him that the world doesn't?
SEVYN STREETER: "He has a really big heart."
We'll take your word for it -- I guess Sevyn was in town to promote "I Like It," but home girl wasn't leaving until she went to her favorite South Beach restaurant for her favorite dessert.
SEVYN STREETER: "There's a place called News Cafe and I am obsessed me and my girlfriends with their bread pudding."
