Shireen on the Scene: Contraband
Archived Reports:
Action, crime, and drug smuggling always makes for a good time at the movies. Throw in a little Mark Wahlberg and it's a date night, too. Tonight Deco's Shireen Sandoval is getting some good vibrations from the ab-a-licious star, of "Contraband."
Chills, thrills & spills that's what you'll get when you watch "Contraband."
Shireen: "Is this a remake or a reboot of a different story?"
Mark Wahlberg: "It's a remake, it's a remake of obviously our own twist to it."
It was orginally a nordic heist thriller disappointingly without vikings.
Mark Wahlberg: "This story has been told before, but is hasn't been told like this."
Shireen: "Love you in these kind of films. That gritty, man's man type of role do you find yourself more attractive to those types of roles?"
Mark Wahlberg: "Those are the types of movies I like to play, and those are the types of movies, Ilike to watch. I like to mix it up as much as possible, but this is defintely my sweet spot."
In "Contraband," Mark plays a cleaned-up crook that goes rogue one more time to help a family member but if you ask him, playing bad isn't why he's so good.
Mark Wahlberg: "Early on it was all about working with talented film makers, whether I was right for the part or not. Then I got to the point where I started making selfish choices that I would want to see myself or that people would want to see me in."
The gritty, reality looking flick, was shot in new orleans.
Shireen: "What was new orleans like, did you get a taste of it?"
Mark Wahlberg: "New orleans was a lot of fun, yeah it was the first time I'd ever worked down there I did a concert down there in 1991, but I don't remember much of it I remember, going down, but I don't remember leaving."
The film is high on drama, but low on sensibility but mark is so likeable even if he is a crook or plays one really well.
Mark Wahlberg: "I also still have to try and continue to mix it up I want to do the action movies, the serious dramas, the comedies."
Girls, this one's for the guy's and who doesn't like a bad boy every now and then.
Shireen: "Do people still sting your songs to you? I love your songs from the past eh, every once in awhile."
Shireen: "You're like please don't! refrain from singing."
