All Shireen on the Scene

Nail-biting, heart pumping & rivoting. I know you like hosting with me but settle down. Actually Louis' describing the new movie "Argo." Oscar winner Ben affleck directed and stars in the movie. I recently caught up with him in Hollywood. He told me all about "Argo," and practiced his middle eastern language skills, too.

Have you heard of the new movie "Argo"? Everyone's talking about it. Oscar winner Ben Affleck stars in the flick. He directed it, too I was sick and sucking on a cough drop when I caught up with him in LA.

Shireen: "Don't think I'm unprofessional, because of what I'm doing."

Ben: "I think you're unprofessional for other reasons."

Argo is a true story. It happened during the Iranian hostage crisis in 1979. By the way, in iran they speak fars.

Shireen: "Can I practice my farsi on you?"

Ben: "Yes."

Shireen: "Do you know any?"

Ben: "Salem I know, but I don't know anything else."

Shireen: "That means take off your clothes."

Ben: "Oh really?"

Shireen: "Just kidding."

Ben: "I like that"

Shireen: "That's kind of forward."

Shireen: "Actually it means 'Hi how r you. hi, how r you?"

Shireen: "Rhat's good."

Ben: "That means I'm good."

The movie is not about the 52 hostages that were nabbed at the U.S. embassy. It's about the six that got away and how Hollywood helped it happen.

Ben: "I always thought the studio would make me change the title because it was so stupid."

Shireen: "I love it..Argo."

BEN: "ARGO is the name of the pretend movie that the CIA comes up with that they pretend they are making to free these hostages."

With a stellar cast, a riveting story, and ben directing this is good stuff.

Shireen: "How would you want your actors to describe you as a director in a phrase?"

.

Ben: "I hope that they would say that i want them to succeed, i give them latitude to take risks."

Ben: "Did you ask them for real?"

Shireen: "Yeah, they like you, I think you're good for a few more years."

Ben: "You only got one more movie, the rungs, you get to the next one."

Shireen: "I know it's the same with TV...one more show."

It's no CIA secret. I'm not a cnn reporter. But i couldn't help but notice the political statement of the movie.

Shireen: "Do you think this is in any way controversial?"

Ben: "I don't think it's controversial in the sense that, we are suggesting something that people could be offended by or isn't true."

Shireen: "Right"

Ben: "I tried to be extremely factual. However, I think the facts of this story and what is going on in the world today, is painful and rasies interesting questions."

History tells us how the story ends. I'm happy to say it's a good one. In the meatime, Ben says go see it. I'd agree, it's one of my top five picks of the year.
