Shireen on the Scene: Here Comes The Boom

Henry Winkler has played a lot of roles. But a punching bag is not one of em' until now. He stars opposite Kevin James in "Here Comes The Boom" forget ay now Henry's saying things like gator roll, choke hold and soften em' up UFC style.

What happens when one of your best friends is about to lose his music teaching job because of budget cuts?

You become an ultimate fighter of course. At least Kevin James does in the movie "Here Comes the Boom".  

Henry Winkler plays  the music teacher he helps Kevin's character get into the UFC fighting scene to earn extra money - to help save his job

Shireen: "This movie did you have any knowledge."

Henry Winkler: "No."

Shireen: "Of cage fighting?"

Henry Winkler: "It was a channel I went by."

Henry Winkler: "But I want to tell you that I learned, to have great respect for those men."

Shireen: "They are athletes."

Henry Winkler: "They are athletes, they take a beating and they keep on ticking?"

Henry didn't fight per se. He just helped Kevin train for the cage.

Shireen: "So there was one particular scene that you were wearing a matress?"

Henry Winkler: "Uh, yeah."

Shireen: "Were you feeling those hits?"

Henry Winkler: "Yes, I felt every one of them now  ask me how many takes, from how many angles?"

Shireen: "How many takes from how many angeles?

Henry Winkler: "30,000."

Despite all the pain...

Henry Winkler: "OMG we laughed a lot."

Shireen: "You did?"

Henry Winkler: "We did."

Shireen: "Did you go home sore?"

Henry Winkler: "I went home and the dust alone."

Shireen: "I know."

Henry Winkler: "Put me down."

When Mr. Winkler wasn't getting beat up: He had to learn to direct music.

Shireen: "The key to directing music, I've always wanted to know?"

Henry Winkler: "Feel it cuz I don't know."
 
Henry Winkler: "The piece that you're doing, keeps going, and going and you're thinking okay I'm done, NO I'm not!"

Shireen: "You're doing good though."

Henry Winkler: "You have to be in shape."

Despite being less than musically inclined. The actor did his homework.

Henry Winkler: "I have tickets to right here to the philharmonic, so i watch dudamel, who is one of the great conductors in the world, and i stole him."

Shireen: "You did?"

Henry Winkler: "I did."
 
Shireen: "I like it, is that method acting or stealing acting?"

Henry Winkler: "It is."

Luckily no actors were hurt during the making of "Here Comes The Boom" and that my friends is a Sunday Monday happy day.

Also starring in the movie along side Kevin and Henry is the lovely Selma Hayek. "Here Comes The Boom" is in theatres now.
