Fans of the big screen rejoice. No longer do you have to go to the video store to rent your favorite flicks. Instead, a Hollywood, Florida company has come up with a more convenient, less expensive option. It's a movie machine that's turning heads in tonight's more bang for the buck.
From sappy to surreal.
We can't get enough of the movies.
And now, we can get our movies from a vending machine.
American Entertainment Distributors in Hollywood is selling the machines to independent vendors.
The idea is get them into apartment buildings and supermarkets across South Florida.
Jim MacAuthur of American Entertainment Distributors says, "I
n Europe, this has already been there for 10 years, and we're proud to be able to bring it to the American market."The concept is pretty simple.
Each machine holds around a thousand new titles.
Customers can then scan the inventory and rent their film of choice on a credit card.
"It's
kind of a unique concept," says MacAuthur. "The machine is able to operate 24 hours a day."And when you're done watching, you just slip the movie in a slot while any late fees are automatically added to your credit card.
Nikki Zarazun uses "Box Office Express." She says, "I'
d never seen anything like it before, so I just thought it was great."At the Flamingo in South Beach, the movie machines are getting 2 thumbs up.
"I
t's something neat, cool, new in the building," says Lauren Hornstein, who uses "Box Office Express." "They had a good selection. It was pretty much all the new movies."And when the new movies are no longer popular, they'll eventually go on sale so you can start adding to your personal collection.

here's no need to go someplace else to rent a video when you can have it in your supermarket or building or where ever."The movie machines will also offer video games.
In some apartment buildings, there's also an optional membership club where members get coupons and free rentals.
