Throwing a Birthday party for a child can be costly. But having a blowout bash -- doesn't mean you have to blow up your bank account. We have some "Birthday Bargains" in tonight's "More Bang For Your Buck."
(WSVN) --
Clowns, costumes, and cotton candy. They can all add up to an expensive birthday bash.
"
I realize everybody wants to out do the other person."But nearly everybody has to operate on a budget.
"
It's all about research."For Teresa Levy , that's research and resourcefulness.
This mother of two knows when in doubt, do it yourself.
Teresa says, "I
started doing my birthday parties at home just to save money."And that's just for starters.
Making your own decorations is also a great way to cut the cost.
Teresa says,
"I basically decorated myself, I minimized with just balloons and a couple of streamers."It's actually easier and cheaper than you think.
A
ccording to the experts, just grab three balloons, adjust each to a different height, tie them down, and you have a simple center piece that costs 2 dollars and 50 cents.Tania Garcia
of Fiesta Paradise says, "You can actually decorate all your tables with three balloons and it looks very pretty."Then when it comes to the food, try to cook as much as possible.
You can even make your own cake and add your own decorations.
"If
they like Care Bears, they can use their own little Care Bears to decorate their cake"And if you would like to do something extra, remember it can be priced right if its timed right.
If you still want to have a party outside the house, consider another day of the week besides Saturday.
"I researched a bowling alley in my neighborhood and they have a Friday night deal."
How much would you pay for 2 lanes, pizza, snacks, soda and shoe rental for 12 kids?
Try only 70 dollars.
"T
here are things out there that you can really do to save money. You just have to have the time and patience to research it."If you are planning a birthday party at home, experts say the most important thing is to have a theme.
They also say having it at home -- will cost you half as much.
