More Bang for Your Buck: Flowers
Wearing red, white, and blue always works if you want to show you love your country. But most men know there's no easier way to say I love you than with flowers. So guys if you're looking to save some cash the next time you have to be romantic, 7's Lynn Martinez has tonight's "More bang For Your Buck".
(WSVN) Lets face it, when women see red roses, men just see red. Flowers often cost too much and die too quickly. But if you want to save your relationship and save some money, you don't have to go far. Just head to your local florist and ask for 3 day old flowers.
Bill Kissel, Florist, says "I''ll sell it for as littla as a qaurter each depending on how old they are and what condition they are in and how much I paid for them."
Another bargain is our location, South Florida is the world's largest port for flowers.
"We dont have to pay any frieght to get it from here to the next place, so we get a better price probably 20-30% better than anywhere else."
And you can get your money's worth with the essential ingredients: sun, water, and aspirin?!?
But first, florist Julio Trias says you should cut the stems under water, so the flowers will get enough to drink.
"Next you should probably put in a solution, a floral life solution that has vitamins or preservatives."
But if you really want to extend the plant's life, you'll have to pay extra... like a penny extra. one cent dropped in the water should do the trick.
Or you may have to splurge and buy a sprite. florist, Bill Kassil says the soft drink works miracles.
"Sprite is the best solution to use for flowers meaning it prolonged the life more so then pennies in the water, better than floral solution better than anything."
And anything's worth a shot when you can only afford a budget bouquet.
