The Best of South Florida: Best Steakhouse
Think two words: thick and juicy. We all know sometimes only a steak will do for dinner. But if your looking for the best beef in town, our viewers found the just the spot... where the meat always meets expectations.
(WSVN) -- Whether it's well done or pink in the middle, a good piece of meat can be hard to find.
But what's even more rare is a place that makes steak seared to perfection.
"The quality of the food, the presentation is excellent, service is top notch, I'm very pleased."
And you'll be pleased with our Viewers' Third Choice - Morton's Steakhouse in Downtown Miami.
Angela Colicheskiof Morton's Steakhouse says, "We are legendary. From the minute that you walk through our front doors, you already see the difference."
The difference is the upscale elegance...
From a separate boardroom for power lunches...
Dawn Lundquistof Morton's Steakhouse says, "People sign deals here. People have used the private board rooms to have executive lunches."
To individual wine cellars... which boast an impressive list of celebrities including Pat Riley and Sly Stallone.
"Iguess first impression means a lot."
But its your impression of the steak that's most important.
"The quality of the food whether you start off with a hamburger or a filet mignon is excellent."
Speaking of excellence, you won't forget the taste at our Second Pick - Christy's Steakhouse in Coral Gables.
Michael Namoreof Christy's says, "With so many steakhouses around it is quite an honor to be voted one of the top three."
Yes, this place prides itself on prime cuts of beef - all butchered and aged right in the restaurant.
Michael says, "We don't use anything to make the meat tender. We buy the best quality which is prime, we age it for 21 days."
And even if you want more than the menu offers, all you need to do is ask.
Michael adds, "Sometimes we have customers that want 20 oz., 25 oz. of steak so we cut it especially for them."
Plus, every steak comes with Christy's signature caesar salad.
"What else can you ask for, good food, good environment, good service."
"You get a lot of work done, over a fantastic meal, you just can't miss with it."
And when you enter our viewers Number One Pick for Best Steakhouse, you know it, it's like entering the football hall of fame. All of a sudden, you are in Don Shulas, and you can't mistake it, especially when they toss you, the menu. "Oh yeah, porterhouse, 48 ounces, you think I can do it, you think I can? Oh, only a few women have."
Dave Shula of Don Shula's says, "The restaurant is themed after the 1972 Dolphins who went undefeated, and it is a tribute to them."
And just like the perfect season, the steaks here are the biggest and the best around.
"Um, so juicy."
"Look, look, I'm making progress I am."
But what's really big is when you get to meet the man himself.
One customer says, "Igot my shirt signed by Don Shula, and I never got my shirt signed by any celebrity before...that was very cool. I really liked it."
Ya, it's one experience, I'll never forget.
"The famed 48 ounce club, look at all these names, my name's going to be up there, oh yeah, in lights in gold, I did it, I did, thanks to a little fancy editing."
"We're very happy with this award and we thank all the people that voted for us."
So did I eat it? I'll guess you'll never really know.
