The Best of South Florida: Best Golf Courses
Pull out your collared shirts and cleats. Tonight, the Best of South Florida is headed for the fairway. That's right, we're teeing it off at the Best Golf Courses in town.
(WSVN) -- The gorgeous green,
The unforgiving fairway,
The raging ruff.
There's nothing better than a round of great golf at one of South Florida's finest courses.
"Personally I have a lot of memories here, I used to play with my father now I take my son here and in Miami that's kind of a unique thing."
There's also something unique about Our Viewers' Third Choice - The Biltmore Golf Course in Coral Gables.
"When people come out here they can feel a sense of golf's traditions."
"It kind of reminds me of the old style of some of the Philadelphia style courses. Small tee boxes and small greens adds a lot of character to it."
Character and class.
This year will be the 78th birthday for the Biltmore making it the oldest course in South Florida.
"It offers all levels of players a chance to be competitive on the golf course."
"It's a user friendly golf course. It's always pretty to be able to look at the hotel."
So pretty -
Even former President Bill Clinton couldn't pass up the Biltmore.
But if you're looking for an escape from the big city, check out Our Viewers Second Choice, Crandon Golf Course in Key Biscayne.
"When you see a perfectly kept up course, you really appreciate it. It makes even bad golf enjoyable."
"Alot of people tell me you have a great golf course, but it's mother nature's golf course. She's the one who's responsible for what we have here."
What they have are 18 holes of par pleasure packed with lots of surprises.
"The wild life you're always running into something interesting here."
Something interesting and something challenging.
Whether you drive, chip or putt your way through, this course is far from a breeze.
"Even professionals have told me it's a very difficult, challenging course."
"A little too the right, but I'll take it though. There's nothing like a day on the links on the Blue Monster. Yes, the home the Ford championship at Doral, Our Viewers Number One Pick by far. But if all 7200 yards is a bit long for you. Don't worry there are plenty of other courses here. You've got the gold, the silver, the red or the great white."
"There's no ruff. They have this cocina. It's ground shells and sometimes it's pretty difficult to hit out of it."
Difficult but not impossible...
"We're a unique venue in that all five golf courses have held a professional event."
"PGA legends from Arnold Palmer, to Tiger Woods to Jack Nicholas have played here and all of them have loved the golf course."
And what's not to love, each course offers an extreme experience.
"It's more like real golf. It's challenging."
"If you come to South Florida, you have play the Doral."
Next week, the Best of South Florida is descending into the deep blue. Grab your fins and mask. We're taking a plunge into the Best Dive Shops in town.
Also, we are now taking votes for the Best Bike Shops in all of South Florida.
