You don't have to stay inside if you want to beat the heat. Tonight, The Best Of South Florida is making a real splash. According to our viewers, when it comes to keeping cool, wetter is definitely better.
(WSVN) -- Whether you like to dive or dip, flip or float, get ready to get wet.
When it comes to South Florida's Best Public Pools, we found a wonderland underwater.
"
It's a very good pool. People are very friendly here. You make a lot of friends here and you come to have fun."And you'll have plenty of fun at Our Viewers' Third Choice - Milander Pool in Hialeah.
"The pool is pretty much described as a large Olympic-sized pool."
An Olympic-sized pool plus two diving boards, a slide, and a playground.
Swim, play, go on the diving board, go on the slide. Kiddie pool. We play freeze and everything in the kiddie pool.
But don't worry. At this aquatic escape, the life guard is always on duty.
"It's funny how it works. The majority of what happens is kids take swim lessons here, then they join our swim team, and then they become lifeguards."
And then when they become adults, Milander offers arthritis classes and water aerobics.
"
Sometimes all the other parks and really crowded and sometimes when I go to the beach they always have sea lice, so I go to this one...the pool."Now, when it comes to hanging out or hanging ten, our viewers say you have to try Our Second Pick, McDonald Water Park in Hialeah.
"It's cool stuff. I mean you can't see this anywhere else around here."
That's because you won't find a wave pool like this anywhere else in South Florida.
"
It creates five different types of waves, three feet in height. It's very exciting for all the little kids that come over here and all the parents also."Exciting and exceptional.
But if riding the waves isn't your thing then try floating for fun.
"
We also have a lazy river that goes through two tunnels and two water falls.""
They like going through the river on the floats and they like going through the caves. They really enjoy the water going over them."And we know mom and dad really enjoy spending only six dollars a child.
"
This is the best place we've got, and the price is right.""T
hey have such a blast so were going to keep on coming.""
When you enter Our Viewers First choice, you may think you're at the Biltmore or Viscaya, well you're close. You're at The Venetian Pool in Coral Gables. Talk about beautiful scenery. You're surrounded by natural awe like coral all around you.""
It's paradise right in the middle of Coral Gables."This paradise - built in the 1920's - is still standing strong and still attracting lots attention.
Laurie: "What do you hear people say about this pool when they come and see it for the first time?"
"That they've seen it on the travel channel, that they've seen it in magazines because they've filmed movies here."
The most recent movie was the American Idol flick From Justin to Kelly.
But if you didn't see the film, you should see the pool in person.
8 hundred summertime swimmers come here everyday.
"
This hot summer in Miami. You just need a good place to cool off. It's a great place."Just watch out, your first plunge might be a bit of a shock.
"
The water's freezing. You kind of have to get used to it.""
It's very unique because we drain the water every evening. So you have cool, refreshing water every morning between 76 and 78 degrees."And it's this refreshing refuge that makes it the Best Public Pool in all of South Florida.
"
You can just get a tan, hang out with your friends. Just do whatever you what."Next week, we're going to get you to eat your veggies. The Best Of South Florida is dicing and slicing the Best Salads in town.
Also, we now want to know where to find the Best waiters and Waitresses in all of South Florida.
