All The Best of South Florida

If you want the ride of your life, think two wheels and a pair of handle bars. Tonight, The Best Of South Florida is wearing some tight spandex shorts. We're on a race to find the Best Bike Shops in town.

(WSVN) -- Brazen brakes, Chiseled chain, Tough tires.

Whether it's enjoyment or exercise... If you're looking for an extreme experience, get ready for the ultimate thrill ride.

"She said Mommy today when I was blowing my candles I wished for a bike."

And wishes do come true at Our Viewers' Third Choice - City Bikes in Aventura.

"The two owners have been in this sport for a long time. They were on the National Team in Cuba."

But now their focused on winning over the customers with pure precision.

"They probabably carry a higher end merchandise here and probably get a more personalized service."

That's service and selection.

So even if your bike is boxed up, it's no problem.

"The sales person was really nice and said just come back in an hour and we'll have it ready for you."

And if you're worried about scrapes and bruises, this place has a surefire way to seal the deal on safety.

"Even for the people who don't want to spend money on a helmet, we give the helmet for free every time someone buys a bike here."

But if you're the type who's picky when it comes to pedaling, then you have to try Our Second Choice - J&B Bike Shop and Repair in Miami Beach.

"The bikes look nice. It's like a museum."

But this is one museum where you're definitely allowed to touch.

In fact, the staff here takes a hands-on approach.

"We ride and by riding bikes it helps us get in touch with the customers."

And after 16 years of business, they know what their customers want.

"Just over the years, from good repairs and a good reputation, it just built up to what it is today."

And if they don't have it...

"So what I did is order it from a book and they got it for me and it was cheaper than anywhere else."

"Carbon Fiber or Titanium. Both less than three pounds if you can imagine, but if you don't begin to know the difference, our viewers say The Number One Place to go is Bell's Bicycles and Repair on 163rd right near bicycle heaven Oletta River State Park."

"We always come back here for parts because they have what you need and good prices and everything else that really matters."

What matters is bells can be very finicky when it comes to fine tuning your machine.

"When you buy a bicycle, its like a suit. It has to fit you the right way."

That's easy to do with five fully equipped work stations.

"We started as a repair shop about 6 years ago. I guess the word spread that we do good service on bikes and thats why the business grew."

And that's why their reputation grew.

Bell's even guarantees one year full service every time you buy a new bike.

"They ask you questions about what type of riding you'll be doing and that gives them a clue about what type of bike you'll need."

"We have stuff that you could just take out of the shop and go into any race as if you were Lance Armstrong."

Next week, it's time to stock up on pencils and paper.

The Best of South Florida is cracking open the Best Places To Buy School Supplies.

Also, we're now taking votes for the Area's Best Diner.
