The Best of South Florida: Best Breakfast
South Florida requires more than a cup of coffee to start the day off right. So if you prefer some pampering with your pancakes or maybe some small talk with your sausage, we know just where to go. Find out who the area's best breakfast is - served on a silver platter.
(WSVN) Whether you like your eggs scrambled, covered, or smothered...some restaurants always deliver breakfast sunny side up.
But finding the best meal in the morning is no laughing matter.
And that's why our viewers third choice is The Floridian in Fort Lauderdale.
A Floridian says, "I've been down here since 1959 and my family myself and business associates have been coming here ever since"
The place opened up in 1937 serving hamburgers and milk shakes.
But take a look at the place now.
Owner Butch Samp doesn't brag about the food or even the service... he credits the customers.
"Without the people you can have the best eggs and the best egg benedict and the people are what makes the restaurant."
But if that's not your cup of tea, try our second pick, The Beverly Hills Cafe...where we promise you don't have to spend a lot of dough to try the best bread in town.
"The food is outstanding, the service is good, the portions are good, the bread is outstanding."
Don't be confused by the name. You won't see a lot of stars at The Beverly Hills Cafe... just a lot of friends.
"The atmosphere, the food definitely, so many people that come in I'm friendly with, it's like seeing friends everyday because the same people come in every day."
And don't get there too early. The Beverly Hills Cafe doesn't open until 11 a.m... serving breakfast until the wee hours of the night.
"The food. Never been dissapointed with the food."
But if you're looking to really start your day off right, we may have found a meal that's even better than mom's cooking.
Our viewers definitely preferred that old fashion taste in a down home atmosphere, they say the #1 choice for breakfast is Cracker Barrel in Pembroke Pines.
"It's not only good food, it's also the price is great."
"It's a lot of food for a little money."
This is the place for a breakfast feast... on a feasible budget.
"We have pancakes all types of biscuits and gravy all kinds of good stuff."
And customers appreciate the fast, friendly service.
"We can get in we can get out we can have great food, great service and be on our way."
But most people say they return for that comfy country feeling.
"It's a down home friendly atmospheres, it's good food, prices are pretty good, you feel comfortable eating in here."
Just like eating at the kitchen table without having to clean up the mess.
"I think they come back because we make them feel like home."
Next week, if you're looking for really good Mexican food, the Best of South Florida moves to Tuesday nights.
Also remember to vote on the area's Best Toy Store.
