Bite with Belkys: Warm Apple Tart with Tres Leche Ice Cream and Caramel Sauce
Tonight, we're dishing a delicious dessert -- featured at an exclusive south florida resort. It's a terrific apple tart -- that is apparently -- to 'die' for. Time now to grab A Bite With Belkys.

The Dish: Warm Apple Tart with Tres Leche Ice Cream and Caramel Sauce
4 each Puff pastry sheet (in the frozen section at your supermarket) cut in 6 inch circles
4 each green or red apples peeled and cored
Almond Cream Ingredients:
1/2 cup butter
1/2 cup powdered sugar
1/2 cup crushed almonds
1/8 cup cinnamon
1/8 cup granulated sugar
1 qt Tres leche ice cream
Mix together the butter and powdered sugar ingredients, then add one egg at time and mix again, then mix in the crushed almonds.
Refrigerate the cream for at least half an hour.
Cut the puff pastry into circles, and spread the almond cream on top.
On a cutting board, slice your apples evenly into thin slices, then fan them out onto the almond cream.
Sprinkle them with cinnamon and granulated sugar and bake at 350 degrees for about 14-17 minutes.
Serve either warm or cold topped with ice cream and caramel sauce.
3/4 cup granulated sugar
½ cup water
1/2 cup butter
1/2 cup heavy cream
In a clean saucepan, melt the sugar and the water together until sugar start to caramelize.
Carefully (sugar will be very hot) add the fresh butter and whip vigourously, and then the heavy cream. Cook for another 5 minutes at low heat.
