Bite with Belkys: Pulled Pork Sandwich

Sometimes the same old ham and cheese or PB&J can be so boring. Tonight, we're showing you how to whip up a sandwich that eats more like a meal. Time to grab a Bite with Belkys.

The Dish: Pulled pork sandwich

Ingredients for pulled pork marinade:

3 Tbs. of paprika
1/4 cup of garlic powder
1/4 cup of onion powder
2 Tbs. of cumin
1/8 cup of brown sugar
1 Tbs. of liquid smoke

Method of Preparation:

-Combine all the ingredients in a small bowl.

Ingredients for pulled pork sandwich:

6-8 lbs. of pork Boston butt
3 banana leaves
8 kaiser rolls
4-inch deep pot of vegetable oil
5 lbs. of potato fries
2 sprigs of rosemary
salt, to taste
1 cup of barbecue sauce

Method of Preparation:

-Start by rubbing the marinade over the pork. Then, cover it in Saran wrap, and let it sit in the fridge overnight.

-Next, place the meat on a sheet of aluminum foil and cook in a 350 degree oven for three and a half hours.

-Then, carefully wrap the pork in banana leaves and seal with the aluminum foil. Now, drop the temperature to 275 degrees and cook for another three and half hours.

-Once the meat is ready, remove the fat and use tongs to pull the pork apart.

-At the restaurant, they make a side of French fries in vegetable oil. Then, in a bowl they toss the French fries with fresh rosemary and salt.

-Before serving, toast the kaiser rolls for a few minutes.

To Plate the Dish:

Place the pulled pork over one bun and top it with some barbecue sauce. Then, serve the fries on the side. You can garnish with some apple cabbage coleslaw and kale.
