The Dade County Youth Fair is just days from going away, but before that happens some of the chefs are going to tell us their secret recipes. Time to grab A Bite With Belkys.
The Chef: Luiz Giovanelli and Butch Netterfield
The Dish: Corn Dogs, Cheese Sticks and Old Fashioned Lemonade.
The Restaurant: The Dade County Youth Fair
Some people go to the fair for the rides, but others go to chow down, and Netterfield's is a fair favorite; they've been at it since 1926.
Ingredients for the Corn Dogs and Cheese Sticks:
- 1 cup of yellow corn meal
- 1 cup of all-purpose flour
- 1 cup of water
- 1 tablespoon of sugar
- 3 teaspoons of baking soda
- 1 teaspoon of salt
- 8 hot dogs
- 8 of your favorite cheese cubes
Method of Preparation:
-Start with the batter by mixing yellow corn meal, flour, water, sugar, baking soda and salt.
-Then, put a hot dog on a popsicle stick and dip it into the batter. Next, place it in a deep fryer with vegetable oil.
-Let the corn dog cook for about three minutes and enjoy.
-Now, you can prepare more of the same batter and follow the same steps to make cheese sticks.
Ingredients for Old Fashioned Lemonade:
- 1 Large lemon
- 1 tablespoon of sugar
- Crushed Ice
- Filtered or bottled water
Method of Preparation:
-First cut a lemon in half and squeeze out the juice.

-Next, get a 16 ounce cup and place it over the lid of the first cup. Shake both of the cups together like if you were making a martini.
-Finally, remove one of the cups and serve.
