Bite with Belkys: Fish & Chips from Fado Irish Pub

All Bite with Belkys

It won't be served at the Royal Wedding, but could be one of Prince William's favorite foods. A new hot spot in South Florida revealing its recipe for a traditional British dish. Let's grab a Bite with Belkys.

The Chef: Enrique Ruiz
The Restaurant: Fado Irish Pub
The Dish: Fish & Chips

Ingredients:

2 cups of beer breading mix (made with all purpose flour, cornstarch, yellow cornmeal, salt and pepper)
1 bottle of club soda
1 bottle of harp beer
2 (4 oz.) haddock fish filets
2 cups of all purpose flour (with a little seasoning salt)
vegetable oil, to deep fry
2 potatoes, sliced thin

Method of Preparation:

-Start by preparing the batter. In a bowl, combine the beer breading mix with club soda and harp beer. Place this over an ice bath to keep it cool.

-Then, coat the fish in a seasoned flour, then drench it in the beer batter mix and deep fry in vegetable oil.

-For the chips, slice potatoes and fry them.

To Plate:

At the restaurant, they serve the fish and chips with a side of coleslaw, a lemon wedge, tarter sauce and a pinch of sea salt and parsley.

Serving Suggestion: Guinness and Pickle Back Shot
