Bite with Belkys: Surf and Turf Burger from the Burger Bar
When you are at the airport don't forget there are some good eats. Today, we're showing you a new place that has travelers raving. Time to grab a Bite with Belkys.
The Chef: Allen Susser
The Restaurant: The Burger Bar inside Ft. Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport
The Dish: Surf and Turf Burger
8 oz. ground meat pattie
1/4 tsp of Chef Allen's burger spice
3 large shrimp, cooked
2 Tbs of shredded lettuce
2 slices of roma tomatoes
1 slice of red onion
1 sesame seed bun
Method of Preparation:
-Start with the meat pattie. Chef Allen likes to use a combination of short rib, skirt steak and sirloin steak. Then, he season's the pattie with his own spice mix. The spice mix includes black peppercorn, salt, coriander seed, cumin seeds, garlic powder and onion powder.
-Also, sprinkle the spice mix over precooked shrimp.
-Next, grill the burger. Warm up the shrimp over the grill. When it's all ready, place the shrimp on top of the meat.
Chef Allen spreads one teaspoon of his secret sauce on the sesame bun. Then, place the burger with shrimp, lettuce, tomato and red onion. You can garnish with a pickle on the side.
Serving Suggestion: Chocolate shake
