All Bite with Belkys

Memorial Day weekend will soon be upon us and there is no better way to celebrate the holiday than by firing up the grill. A South Florida chef shows us how to make one of his best selling burgers. Time to grab a Bite with Belkys.

The Chef & Owner: Jorge Ramos
The Restaurant: The Joint Bar & Grill
The Dish: Caprese Burger

Ingredients:

80/20 angus certified ground chuck pattie
3 slices of fresh cow's mozzarella
1 inch slice of tomato
3 cups of seasoned all purpose flour mix
1 cup of buttermilk
vegetable oil (to deep fry)
1 burger bun
balsamic reduction

Method of Preparation:

-Begin by seasoning the meat with salt and pepper. At the restaurant, they use an 80/20 angus certified meat pattie. Grill the burger and top it with fresh slices mozzarella.

-Then, bake the bun in the oven for a few minutes.

-In the meantime, coat a slice of tomato in a seasoned flour mix, buttermilk and back in the flour. Next, quickly deep fry the tomato in vegetable oil, until its golden brown. Do not over cook the tomato.

To Plate:

At the restaurant, they spread a tomato compote on one slice on the bun and an aioli on the other slice. Then, place the burger with the mozzarella. Top it with the fried tomato, basil and a balsamic reduction. You can serve french fires on the side. Garnish with a pickle.

Serving Suggestion: Beer
