Bite with Belkys: Apple Tart from Emilio's Trattoria

All Bite with Belkys

The smell of treats baking is always a good one tonight, a South Florida is showing us how to make a decadent Italian dessert. Time to grab a Bite with Belkys.

The Dish: Apple Tart or Crostata di Mele

Ingredients:

6 green apples
1 cup of sugar
1/2 cup of butter
1 tsp. of ground cinnamon
1 sheet of puff pastry
vanilla ice cream
cinnamon stick, to garnish
powdered sugar, to garnish

Method of Preparation:

-Start by coring and peeling the green apples. Then, cut the apples into small pieces. (One apple will make one pie)

-Next, melt sugar over high heat. The sugar will turn into a sauce.

-Toss the apples pieces into the melted sugar. Add butter and wait until it melts.

-After, sprinkle in ground cinnamon.

-Now, cut the puff pastry sheet into squares. Place some of the apples inside and wrap it up.

-Bake the apple tarts in a sheet pan lined with parchment paper. Chef Emilio says to bake in a 500 degree oven for about ten minutes or until its a nice golden brown.

To Plate:

Top the apple tart with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. You can garnish with a cinnamon stick, the left over melted sugar sauce and powdered sugar.

Serves: 6
