Bite with Belkys: Tiramisu from Piola
If you always crave a sweet bite after a meal, one chef is going to give us a taste of Italy, showing us how to make one of their most popular sweet treats. It's time to grab A Bite with Belkys.
The Chef: Marianne Huybregts
The Restaurant: Piola
The Dish: Tiramisu
6 egg yolks
1/2 cup of sugar
2 cups of mascarpone cheese
6 egg whites
one pinch of salt
30 lady fingers
4 cups of espresso
cocoa powder, to taste
Method of Preparation:
-Start by making a cream. In an electric mixer, combine egg yolks and sugar.
-Then, slowly mix in mascarpone cheese.
-Next, in another mixing bowl, beat egg whites and add a small pinch of salt. Now, combine the egg yolk mix with the fluffy egg whites.
-To assemble the tiramisu, first spread the cream in a pan. Then, dip the lady fingers in espresso and place them side by side over the cream.
-Next, spread another layer of cream and add another row of espresso lady fingers on top.
-To finish, cover it all with more cream. Let it sit the fridge for three to four hours.
Sprinkle cocoa powder over the top.
Serving Suggestion: Prosecco
