Bite with Belkys: Chicken Lettuce Wraps from Machiya
A delicious meal doesn't have to be hard to make. To prove it, a South Florida chef prepares his chicken lettuce wraps. Time to grab a Bite with Belkys.
The Restaurant: Machiya
The Dish: Chicken Lettuce Wraps
8 oz. of ground chicken
1 oz. of olive oil or sesame oil
1 Tbs. of ginger, chopped
1 Tbs. of garlic, ground
1 pinch chili flakes (optional)
2 oz. of tamarind sauce
7 pieces of romaine lettuce leaves
1/2 tsp chives, chopped
1 tsp of peanuts, chopped
Method of Preparation:
-In a hot pan, add a drizzle of olive oil and toss in ginger, garlic, chili flakes and ground chicken. Mix this all together.
-Then, once the chicken is almost ready, add tamarind sauce.
-Next, gather lettuce leaves and place them in an ice box for presentation.
Serve the chicken in a bowl and top it with chives and peanuts.
