An update to a 7News investigation we brought you last week. A suspect accused of ripping off escorts stopped. And tips from 7News viewers helped track him down. Investigative reporter Carmel Cafiero first exposed his activities and has the latest.

WSVN -- Friday 13th proved very unlucky for Rob Weiner. Face down and handcuffed on a curb the 43-year-old would soon be on his way to jail.

He's still locked up and could be for a very long time.

A 7News investigation first exposed Weiner's activities.

BSO Detective: "Was that you banging on the door?"

"Rob Weiner: "No that was my chair."

He was questioned and then arrested in 2010 after out of town escorts claimed he lured them to South Florida by falsely claiming to be a member of a big time band, and then taking their money and credit cards.

Sgt. Craig Brown: "Girls would go and pick him up and then the scam starts where I lost my wallet, my manager has my wallet, my limo broke down from me some money. We'll go do our thing and I'll get you the money back and that's where the girls are victimized."

Det. Ian Kuechler: "There'd be mood swings, drug use and then eventually their property or money would be gone and so would he."

Weiner's arrest record dates back to 2004 and ranges from credit card fraud to grand theft to drug possession.

Rob Weiner: "I can't believe I'm sitting here for some beep chick."

Later, when he didn't show for court a warrant was issued for his arrest.

BSO says tips following our report helped them catch Weiner. The day he was arrested, BSO had a family member's cell phone and tricked Weiner into thinking he was going to meet a relative who had money for him.

Before being cuffed, Weiner reportedly rammed a K-9 car which led to him being bitten by a police dog and charged with aggravated assault on an officer. And despite years worth of mug shots, Weiner clearly didn't want his mug on TV.

Weiner has refused to appear in bond court. That may be because some of the charges against him carry no bond.
