Move over little black dress... This year getting dressed up for an event is all about glamour and color. Shireen Sandoval shows us the latest in evening gowns in tonight's Fashion Forward.

(WSVN) -- "What are you wearing tonight; you look lovely?" Shireen asks Stockard Channing, on the red carpet during the 55th Annual Emmy Awards Ceremony.

"I'm wearing a dress that Carolina Herrera designed for me," she answers.

"Tell me what you're wearing," Shireen asks Lena Olen.

"Ralph Lauren," responds Lena.

Lena Olen and Stockard Channing wore couture gowns to the Emmy's.

Sarah Jessica Parker and Debra Messing with strapless sensations.

And Christina Applegate and Patricia Heaton had an old Hollywood look.

When it comes to evening wear, that glamorous look of the 1930's and 40's is back.

"Most people this season are buying over the top," says Dom Nazario.

At Saks Fifth Avenue in Bal Harbour, it's all about soft fabrics like chiffon... with a dash of bold color and detail.

"It's not only black," Dom Nazario, Director of Couture at Saks Fifth Avenue says, "but it's color, black with pinks, blacks with orange, blacks with red. Teals, orange is a big color."

Color is big for fall, but your gown doesn't have to be.

In fact, designer Mayela Camacho says you can still be the belle of the ball in an elegant pant suit.

"The most important thing is to really feel comfortable in what you're wearing," says Mayela.

"That's going to help you a lot when you walk in a place and you want everyone to look at you," she adds.

No matter if it's short...

Or long...

Made of feathers...

Or satin...

This season, it's all about elegance and a touch of class.

"You have to dress for the occasion," says Camacho. "That's the most important thing."

But if you want to look good without blowing your budget, then head to DOTS.

"So this is also a good place to come if you want to buy a dress, but you don't want to spend a thousand dollars for the holidays," comments Shireen.

"Right," says Cynthia Bell, DOTS Store Manager. "Our dresses range from 13 dollars to 24 dollars."

"I'll take five, just my price."

Go for a strapless dress with a pretty pink bow.

A sexy halter with sequin detail.

Or add some flower power to your ensemble, no matter what your style and budget.

"It's sexy to have the back out," Cynthia says. "We also have the dips in the dresses as well, those are very popular now, and the satin is more like romantic sexy."

Don't forget your chandelier earrings, they're very in now.
