Remember wearing shoulder pads and big gold buttons in the 80's? Fashion house Escada made them popular. Their clothing has been around for more than 25 years, but their designs are far from outdated. Shireen Sandoval shows us why in tonight's Fashion Forward.
(WSVN) -- Bright colors... bold looks... it's the look of Escada.
If you haven't heard of the fashion house, then you're missing out on more than 25 years of unique designs.
Brian Rennie, Escada Design Director, says, "Escada's a collection that loves color. We always have very bright, fresh colors in the collection. It's very luxurious, it's very detailed. It's very rich."
Now Escada is hoping to appeal to a younger customer -- it's clothes a little hipper and edgier this season.
We got a sneak peek at the spring/summer 2004 collection during this private runway show at Neiman Marcus in Bal Harbour.
Brian says, "The general theme of the collection this season is the return to color. Very feminine, yellow, orange, very bright strong colors."
This spring, also look for fabrics like denim and tweed... lace details... lots of prints... And plenty of pink.
From this bubblegum pink pantsuit to this polka dotted dress... At Escada, it's all about making fashion work for you.
"Even our regular customers are liking the more modern pieces as well," says Brian. "Everyone wants to look younger, let's face it."
That includes celebrities like Halle Berry, Angela Bassett, and Andie MacDowell, who wears Escada.
But even if you're not a celebrity, you can be a fashion star in this season's latest style.Loyal customers say they're ready to shop till they drop.
Susan Silver, an Escada customer, says, "I'm looking for something that's edgy but classy. That's a very hard thing to find but they always, always do it. You can wear their clothes and make a statement and yet it's a very classy thing."
"I think that it fits women beautifully, the colors are beautiful, the style is beautiful," says Michelle Bagdasian.
Brian says the one must have piece this season is something tweed... Escada has plenty of that in it's spring/summer collection.
