Rule of thumb -- when it comes to clothes never give anything away. With the exception of leasure suits, what's out will eventually become what's in. A perfect example -- the swing skirt. Tonight, seven's Shireen Sandoval is showing us how this fifties fashion staple is now becoming fashion forward.
WSVN -- There's nothing sexier than a lady who can swing.
But to get into the swing of things this season, you've got to slip on your skirt.
Madeleine Kirsh from C. Madeline's: "The biggest trend of the season is the loose billowy skirts, lots of volume."
Go ahead and glitter with gold in this sequined number --- take a spin in this fifties fiesta, or feel fabulous in a bustier with a tropical sea skirt.
Madeline: "You feel like you can swing, you feel like you can dance around the room. it's a wonderful feeling much more unconstricted as what you saw of last year."
But if you're not feeling the fifties, you can still go retro feeling like a lady from the 80's.
Madeline: "You will see lots of volume, you will see lots of ruffles, balloons, puffiness and you will have lots of bangle and beads that will accompany this look."
At Toff on South Beach they say swinging skirts are the "it" item of the season.
Juan Carlos Cajijos from Toff: "This season it's all about a simple cami or maybe a short sleeve short and then a full circle skirt."
Bright blue with lots of layers can take you from the beach to the street, and basic brown looks super sweet paired with a colorful cami.
Juan Carlos: "With the fuller skirt having the layers of silk and the different colors it is something you can dress-up."
But if you want something glam, grab a full skirt with some glitz or try a tank that sparkles instead.
Juan Carlos: "It makes the lady feel sexier and it makes the lady feel more playful."
Of course, don't forget about popular printed fabrics either. Everything from polka dots to floral is very much in fashion.
Madeline: "Just make sure whatever skirt you wear you wear it on your own style don't force anything on you."
To complete the look when you're wearing a full skirt try adding some chunky bangles or a chunky necklace.
