Think silky and sexy...The hottest new style for summer takes us from the bedroom to the runway. Here's seven's Jackie Johnson with tonight's Fashion Forward.
(WSVN) -- This season fashion is keeping it to the bare essentials...Proving that it really is what's on the inside that counts.
Jackie: "What is the big trend right now?"
Stephen Lasker From Steam on Sunset: "The big trend in fashion right now is color, sexy slip dresses, lingerie inspired items."
This hot new trend is turning innerwear into outerwear. And at Steam On Sunset, I got to slip into something a little more comfortable.
Jackie: "You kind of feel like you are in pajamas, but it's little dressier."
Stephen: "You can dress it up, as i said with contrasting it with another black top with polka dots or leave it like that which is more evening."
Even if you are dressing up, the trick with this style is to tone it down.
Stephen: "If you are mixing light pink colors put it with silver, make it look sophisticated, don't make it look too sexy, the sexiness will come out on it's own."
Jackie: "So a little more toned down than actual lingerie"
Stephen: "Correct."
At Steam, they say it's important not to look like you really are wearing lingerie...So go for styles with a little more detail in the design.
Jackie: "Now tell me about this dress that she's wearing"))
Stephen: "if it didn't have the hardware detail in gold in the back it would be any other lingerie piece."
At Burdines in Dadeland Mall, the beauty of this new style is its versatility.
Melissa Goff from Burdines: "You can make it serious, you can make it sexy, you can put it with whatever basically goes with the overall look of the outfit."
If you're going for a business look...
Melissa: "It's a great look to soften a hard edged jacket, it can give you a touch of femininity without being overkill on a trend."
Or a night on the town.
Melissa: "It's great going out on the beach with the right pair of jeans or you can layer it under a jacket to go to work, boom you're out the door to go out at night too."
