You saw them at the Golden Globes and you'll see them at the Academy Awards. This year, sequins are making a major statement. But they're not just reserved for the red carpet. In tonight's fashion forward, Shireen Sandoval shows us how these sparkling studs are popping up everywhere.
WSVN -- Emmy Rossum shone in this strapless stunner. And desperate housewife Felicity Huffman looked anything but in this sleek number. So how did they all do it?
Amanda Harper from Chroma: "Sequins, embroidery, anything with sparkle is a huge trend for this season."
At Chroma, they say it's the time to shine... Like in these black capri pants with sparkling detail.
Make them casual with a simple white tank or add metallic pumps and a hot hat to give a splash of sass.
Amanda: "Sparkles can be worn with any outfit these days, it's a great way to add a little pizzazz to your plain old regular outfit."
Glittering with gold, casual cotton is also transformed into something special.
Here, a traditional tube dress is suddenly anything but traditional.
Amanda: "Sparkles are really being added to any piece of clothing whether it's denim, a casual sparkly top, you can dress it up in a dress."
But if you're not into sparkles all over, try a simple cinched dress with a big accent piece.
From day to night you'll be sure to stand out in style.
Amanda: "You can wear it during the day with jeans, with a pair of flip flops and then for the evening change up your pants, put on a heel, change your accessories and you are ready to go."
At Joyella Boutique located in the back of Brown's on Lincoln Road, they say with sequins, gettin back to basics has never been hotter.
Even these simple black tanks shout with style.
Jennifer Mielke: "It's a good way to freshen up your really basic stuff. I really like it that way for spring, it doesn't have to be evening."
And it doesn't just have to be for warm weather. Sequins are a great way to update winter trends too.
Take this tunic. With a jazzed up belt, it looks like something new.
Jennifer: "If you're going to wear it people are going to look at you."
Also really hot are sequined hair accessories. Anything jeweled in your hair can spice up the simplest outfit.
