Fashion Forward: Workout Wear
If your New Year's resolution is to lose weight...Why not shed those pounds while looking trendy too. In tonight's Fashion Forward, 7's Shireen Sandoval shows us how you can look stylish even when you break a sweat.
WSVN--Whether you exercise in the gym...Sweat through an aerobics class...Or sculpt your body with a big ball, it's easy to look good while working out.
Monica Filpo: "It helps if you're looking good and you're going to the gym and you feel good about yourself."
Active wear designer Monica Filpo says just like everyday fashion, workout wear changes with the seasons. Her clothing line Emme is sold at boutiques, spas and gyms...Including here at the Sports Club LA at the Four Seasons in Downtown Miami.
Monica Filpo: "What I like to do is you know to get the basics and really put a nice twist into it either by adding a contrasting piping or you know prints or cut-outs and really putting some fashion forward details into the clothing themselves."
Monica says when choosing something to workout in, look for materials like supplex - which will keep you dry and provide support in all the right places.
Monica Filpo: "The pockets have a function and they're in that one place for a reason and some of them are made to you know, make the leg look better, the butt look better."
Best of all, whether you go with green camouflauge or try to look pretty in pink... These outfits can take you from the gym to lunch with the ladies without a change of clothing. It's easy to get physical with the latest styles at Sporty Trends.com. At this on-line boutique, it's all about unique workout wear you can't find anywhere else.
Vanessa Fiffe: "We carry a lot of different styles, a lot of different colors, a lot of variety so you know you don't look like the person next to you."
But for spring, if you want the color of the season - Vanessa says you have to do blue.
Vanessa Fiffe: "From light blue, to royal blue, to turquoise blue. Anything with two tones, contrast colors, contrast stitching."
And when it comes to fit, stick to a wide waist and a flair leg. Try this turquoise blue spaghetti string top with a wide waistline pant. Or stretch out in one of these combinations. Whether you're working out or heading out, workout wear is all about looking good and being comfortable.
Vanessa Fiffe: "They just want to look good in and out of the gym."
If you're not at your ideal weight yet, vanessa says it's okay to wear a tank top over a wide waist pant. Set a goal and use an outfit as a motivational tool to get yourself in shape and to accomplish your New Year's resolution.
