Fashion Forward: Prom Dress
For many teenagers, it can be the most memorable time of the year. But if you haven't started preparing for prom, it's not too late to dance the night away. In tonight's Fashion Forward, 7's Shireen Sandoval shows us how to find the perfect dress for your personality.
WSVN-- Okay seniors, high school prom is here. But if you want to be a class act, be sure you make the last dance a memorable one in a beautiful prom dress.
High School Senior:"I think a dress just tells you who you are."
At Miami Southridge Senior High, students recently held a fashion show with donated dresses from store's like Becca's and Cristi's closet, and donated tuxedos from Miami tux. The event was organized to raise money for kids who can't afford the big-ticket items.
High School Senior Barbie Garcia:"The dresses, the tuxedos, the tickets, accessories and so on, it gets very pricey."
But the look on your date's face will be priceless if you prefer satin. As always, there are no rules when it comes to style, length or color. Go for an off the shoulder floor length gown. Or wear a knee length dress instead. If you're looking for a dress with durability, try a two piece.
Nathaly Garcia:"What's just so good about those is that you can mix and match them, and you can wear them more then once."
If you want to be the belle of the ball, head to teen angel in Coral Springs. Here, it's easy to find a prom dress that will impress your classmates.
Kerri Kovler of Teen Angel:"Look for a dress that really compliments their own shape and their coloring and not to be worried so much worried about what's in a magazine, or what their friends are wearing, but what looks great on them."
This year, look for less bling and more details like beading or rhinestone, and embroidery. Plus ladies, you'll want to pay as much detail to the back of your dress as the front.
Kerri Kovler:"It's a lot of low backs, a lot of beading on the backs, a lot of trains, a lot of fishtails. Definitely a lot of emphasis on your back entrance as well as you're front."
Go bold in this Faviana electric green gown inspired by one Paris Hilton wore. Or look pretty in pink in this corset back gown. This spring, designers are purposely copying red carpet looks.
Kerri Kovler:"Everyone wants to feel like a movie star and prom's the perfect occasion to feel like one."
