Fashion Forward: Black
It's the one consistency when it comes to clothing -- When in doubt, wear black. But in tonight's Fashion Forward, 7's Diana Diaz shows us if you're not careful, there is a dark side to our favorite color.
WSVN -- Kelly Clarkson wore it from head to toe in one of her latest music videos.
Jessica Simpson wore a black dress to host Fox's Teen Choice Awards.
This fall, black is back and better then ever.
"Anyone can wear black. That's the easy thing about it."
At Studio Lx In South Miami, you don't just have to go for the little black dress.
This season, you can mix and match colors and fabrics.
They've even got something for guys too.
Monica Hernandez: "That's the great thing about black, you can mix it with leathers, you can mix it with furs, you can mix it with different types of materials, and that actually spruces it up and makes it a little more interesting."
There's definitely something interesting about these off-the-shoulder shirts.
Or, for a little twist, add a hint of gold over your skinny jeans and black top.
Monica Hernandez: "You're definitely seeing a lot of black with gold, also rose gold, silver can always be worn. You just have to pair the right accessories and match it with the right outfit."
Black is also a staple at Banana Republic on South Beach.
For fall, you'll find it in a number of new silhouettes and some classics like the basic black suit.
Cory Kemp: "We try to change it a little bit every year. This year we added a little bit of fringes in the shoulders. Things like that make it look more sophisticated, like from the 40, 50s."
But if you think the color's too dark for our tropical temps, think again.
Clothing manufacturers are now tailoring materials to hotter climates.
Cory Kemp: "You can pull black off here in South Florida 'cause, at Banana Republic, most of our black clothing is made from light-weight wool, which even though it is wool, it's a light-weight product."
Meaning you can look good and feel good anytime of day.
Cory Kemp: "During the day you have the fitted black pants with a black blazer for work, you go home, take the blazer off and put like a shocking red top on and go out for the evening."
Going head to toe in black isn't wrong if you wear it right.
