We all know that South Floridians get spoiled by the weather. But this winter could be one of the coldest on record. In tonight's Fashion Forward, if you want to look hot on a cool day, 7's Diana Diaz says start with a sexy sweater.

WSVN -- It's the ongoing office argument -- either it's too hot or too cold.

But ladies, it's OK to let the temperature drop, as long as you're wearing a sweater.

Joann Bertolino: "You definitely want to have a sweater this season."

At My Own Boutique in Aventura, they've been keeping customers warm long before sweater weather.

This fall, you'll find everything from earth tones, to deep bolds, to black.

But the key with our hot weather is to wear a layer under your sweater.

Joann Bertolino: "As the temperatures start to drop, you can definitely get away with lightweight sweaters, and as it gets hot you can take it off and have your T-shirt on underneath."

Especially popular -- knit dresses, cowl necks and long cardigans.

Pair them with your favorite jeans or over a pair of leggings.

It's a great way to hide anywhere you feel heavy.

Joann Bertolino: "There's billowy types of sweaters that are more forgiving, like fuller in the waistline. They're longer, there's some down to your knees. I like the grandpa cardigan."

Grandpa and grandma would be proud of the selection of sweaters at the Electric Boutique in Southwest Miami-Dade.

Here, you'll find plenty of fun and funky tops.

From an unusual take on the matching cardigan ... to this crop over crochet top.

Mary Ellen Rinaldi: "You can play with fun necks, you can do a turtleneck and dress that up. You can do a little cowl neck to show a little more skin."

Plus, sweaters come in all kinds of lightweight materials like silk and cashmere -- materials that won't let them see you sweat.

Mary Ellen Rinaldi: "You can do cashmere for a light fabric, which is going to be more fitting and more revealing. You can do wool, but just make sure you put a little something under it because it gets a little itchy."

So the long and the short of it -- sweaters are in for everyone this season.

Mary Ellen Rinaldi: "This season, sweaters are definitely fashionable for any age group. It's not just for your grandma."

Add a new, hip look to your sweater by wearing it with a belt high in the waistline.
