'Tis the season for shopping and jaw dropping. If you want to turn heads this holiday season, you may want to purchase an early Christmas present. In tonight's Fashion Forward, 7's Diana Diaz shows us where to find the list of designer dos and don'ts.
WSVN -- It's the morning mayhem. The alarm goes off and clothes fly everywhere. But what looked good in a magazine doesn't always look good on us. That's why Glamour is printing their big book of dos and don'ts.
Suze Schwartz: "This book has 750 pictures that will make your jaw drop."
Tip number one:
Suze Schwartz: "A lot of people use fit in the wrong way. They wear clothes that are too tight, or they wear clothes that are too big."
Other don'ts include:
Over exposing yourself and over accessorizing. Just see if you can spot some mistakes among our 7 News anchors.
Instead, try following celebrities like Lucy Lui, by only using trends that work on your body type.
Suze Schwartz: "We show women of all different body shapes and sizes, from size two to size 26, how to dress for their particular bodies."
Remember, details do matter.
According to InStyle's new "Instant Style," a few key pieces can change an entire wardrobe.
Amy Goodman: "By basics, I mean individual pieces like great black pants or a wonderful A-line skirt. These are things that you can pair with seasonal tops and trends of the season, and you can mix and match."
Plus, there's an entire section on turning one outfit into four different looks.
Amy Goodman: "We say celebrate it, flaunt it, don't hide it, have clothing that really fits your curves and then have a little celebration."
Or, you can turn your celebration into a fashion fiesta with friends.
Trinny Woodall: "If you can't afford to choose new clothes, then get together with eight or ten girlfriends and have a swap party."
From the popular show "What Not To Wear" comes Trinny and Susannah Take on America. In their new book, they suggest:
Going with lower, wider leg jeans if you have big thighs.
And, if you're 40 plus, replace short shorts with some tailored trousers, so you don't show off too much flesh.
Bottom line:
Susannah Constantine: "How you feel inside affects what you look like on the outside. So, if you can really change the way you look on the outside, you'll feel so much better."
Also, get organized. Divide your wardrobe into three piles: A keepers pile, a garbage pile and a charity pile.
