Fashion Forward: Spring Dresses
Spring is just around the corner and that means it's time to get caught up on the top fashion trends this season. So, ladies, forget the jeans. As Diana Diaz shows us in tonight's Fashion Forward, it's time to slip into something a little more lady-like.
WSVN -- At the Oscars, stars like Helen Mirren and Cate Blanchett sparkled in metallics, while Maggie Gyllenhall and Jennifer Lopez took the stage like Grecian goddesses.
And while everyone wanted the gold at the Golden Globes, when it came to the gowns, white sizzled on stars like Selma Hayek and Cameron Diaz.
As you can see this season, it's all about the flowy, feminine dress.
Katharine Rubino: "This season the bubble has burst, and you're going to see a lot of dresses that start with an empire waist-line and go down, and it's going to be a lot of free-flowing fabrics."
At Neiman Marcus in Coral Gables white is always right, especially here in South Florida.
And, this season, don't worry about waiting until Memorial Day to wear it.
Try this criss-cross cotton dress with a fun pair of strappy sandals.
Or brighten up your wardrobe instead. From bright blues to emerald greens, it's a rainbow of colors for spring.
And it's not just about color: Designers have included other key trends in this season's dresses, like wide belts, empire waists and plenty of feminine details.
Katharine Rubino: "You're going to see eyelet. You're going to see floral. You're going to see Grecian. There are so many ways to see the dress this season, and you're going to see a lot of volume."
Spring is in bloom at Chroma on Lincoln Road.
What's hot right now -- the tent dress.
Kimberly Sussman: "The tent look is very New York. It's fashion forward, it's young, it's classy, and you can make it sexy."
Go retro in this floral frock; you can control the volume with a rope belt.
So, whether you go long with big, bold prints, short with special details or wrap it up with a classic wrap, you will look your best this season in a dress.
Kimberly Sussman: "The best thing about a dress is it's easy and effortless. It's a one-shot deal, you go into your closet, you put it on and immediately you look fantastic."
And more good news, ladies: You can trade in those stilettos for a pair of flats this season -- another big trend for spring.
