Fashion Forward: Summer Shorts

WSVN -- Whether it's time for work or play, you can kick your wardrobe into high gear by throwing on some of this summer's most styling shorts.

Melissa Goff: "Shorts are natural for us here in South Florida because they're so conducive to our climate. The key is how you put that look together.

Macy's at Dadeland is taking fashion up a notch with their wide array of shorts, perfect for showing off that summer tan. And there's no shortage of lengths to choose from.

Melissa Goff: "This summer, the key is finding the perfect length of short for your body. And it really depends on the shape of your leg.

You can play it safe with a pair of Bermudas, like these, matched with a bright silk halter. Or these, worn under a black smock shirt with white embroidery. But if you're feeling daring, show a little more skin in these black-cuffed short shorts. And if you really want to catch someone's eye, get the summer must have with a pair of white shorts.

Melissa Goff: "If you don't have a pair of white shorts, I would definitely suggest getting a pair of white shorts in any of the really popular lengths."

Jenna White Boutique in South Miami is also turning up the heat with some hot summer shorts. The best part, you can take them from day to night.

Jenna White: "You can do it with a little sandal with it at night. If it's day time, do it with a little ballet flat, do it with an open toed sandal and you're good to go."

And accessories are vital to striking gold with your sunny outfit.

Jenna White: "Accessories are huge. I accessorize everything, do you're earrings, do your necklace, do a great pare of shoes with it, do an awesome bag, and you know, hit the town."

But there's one simple rule when it comes to following the fashion code of conduct.

Jenna White: "Make sure you are age appropriate if you are showing a lot of skin down there. Try to cover up on top."

Diana Diaz: And when it comes to shoes remember, the shorter the heel the more modest the look. If you want to draw more attention to yourself the shorter the shorts, the taller the heel.
