Fashion Forward: Back to School
Well kids, the lazy hazy days of summer are quickly coming to an end, and that means it's almost time to hit the books again. The Nightteam's Diana Diaz shows us how to become model students in tonight's Fashion Forward.
WSVN -- Homework, books and all that studying. Yes, school is just around the corner, and you'll want to have the right look before the first bell rings.
At Macy's at the Aventura Mall, heading back to class in style is as easy as adding some color.
Melissa Goff: "For girls, this back-to-school season one of the top trends is color. Look for vibrant bright colors."
You'll make the grade in these colorful baby doll tops paired with denim capris or jeans. Add a bright purse and ballet flats for some flair, and don't be afraid to shine in these apple-bottom, gold foil hoodies.
Melissa Goff: "Baby dolls, empire waists, tunics, dresses alone or dresses over leggings are very, very strong trends."
Guys, you'll be making the grade this year in these graphic tees paired with classic jeans with a twist.
Melissa Goff: "A new pair of jeans with back-pocket detail, look for embroidery or look for a foil detail on pockets for the guys."
OK, boys and girls, pop quiz, can you wear strips and patterns? Absolutely. Go to the head of the class in a printed or striped Polo shirt over long plaid shorts.
And girls can make straight As in fashion following Hannah Montana's new line.
Melissa Goff: "Dresses, denim, separates; it's a great line for girls going back to school, and it's very school-appropriate too."
At Just LX Boutique in South Miami, fashion makes a high grade with the latest looks for kids.
Stephanie Rodriguez: "Latest trends that we're seeing are a lot of skinny jeans, a lot of gray, a lot of purple, for fall, a lot of boots."
Your little one will kick it in a pair of brown suede boots over white leggings. Grey tunics also look great with jeans and silver ballet flats.
Older girls can get a gold star with jeans and a pink hoody for a casual look, or dress them up with a white buttoned down shirt and clogs, other back to school must haves.
Stephanie Rodriguez: "Definitely a pair of khaki pants, navy blue pants, cute skirts, jeans. Definitely T-shirts vintage T-shirts."
And the boys will be too cool for school in this olive jacket over a Harley T-shirt. Kids, your future's so bright you have to wear shades.
Diana Diaz: "The tax-free holiday begins tomorrow and runs through Aug. 13th, so get shopping!"
