Like mother, like daughter. We've got the details on a new fashion trend that's all in the family.

WSVN -- Celebrity moms are known for it: dressing their kids to match their style and personality, and now you can do it too.

At Shop Daja Boutique in Fort Lauderdale, sisters Danielle and Ali, teach moms and daughters the trick to dressing alike without taking a big fashion step backwards.

Ali Filler: "The moms and daughters were so matchy, matchy, head to toe with the same bow, same T-shirt with the same verbiage, with the same shoes and the same sandals."

These days it's about taking your own sense of style and having your child be an extension of that. Moms can go preppy, like Katie Holmes, in a V-neck black sweater tunic and vintage pea coat in wine by Daftbird.

Daughters follow suit in T-shirts and leggings in the same color-code as mom.

Ali Filler: "It's very piecy. It's mixing golds and silvers. It doesn't have to be all monochromatic. It doesn't have to be the same thing."

If your look is more edgy, like Gwen Stefani, moms can layer a tweed jacket over a basic cream V-neck. Pair it with J Brand jeans in dark gray.

Daughters rock on in vintage T-shirts over J Brand black denim. Mom Laura Goldman loves sharing the same style as her two daughters Julia and Emma.

Laura Goldman: "Yes, it's definitely fun. Especially, my oldest daughter is near my size, she's tall. We all share everything."

Take a page out of Reese Witherspoon's stylebook with this flirty feminine yellow tank dress by Puella.

Daughters also look fresh in aqua tank tops paired with denim capris or turquoise leggings. Making this family-friendly fashion move work can be as easy as mixing the same colors, fabrics and even designers.

Josh Christopher, creator of the line Daftbird, worn by stars Jennifer Aniston, Victoria Beckham, Jessica Biel and Jennifer Garner, says his tops look good at any age.

Josh Christopher: "Some of our V-necks are really deep, so you can wear tank tops underneath them, but mostly for layering and a very soft fabric and a great fit."

The entire family can layer-up in these tunic-Ts and leggings in the season's hottest colors-- purple and gray. So, moms and kids, here's the lesson: have fun with fashion, but please keep this rule in mind...

Josh Christopher: "Let's be age-appropriate. Let's make the kids look like kids, let's make the moms look like moms."

Diana Diaz: "Moms, the first step to making this trend work for you is to figure out what your sense of style is and then passing it along to your kids.
