You can bet this item is in every a-lister's closet, right now we're talking about the sweater dress and even if the weather is still warm. The nightteam's Diana Diaz shows us why it's the key piece to have this season as she takes us Fashion Forward.

WSVN -- Stars from Beyonce to Lucy Liu are wrapping themselves up in one of the warmest trends of the season - the sweater dress.

At Shop Daja in Fort Lauderdale, It's all about versatility.

Ali Filler: "Anything goes, all you have to do is wrap yourself around the sweater dress and then you can create your whole outfit around it, for any occasion."

For a cool daytime look, try this black sweater dress by Lily McNeal over a green shift with tights and silver flats.

For night, take off the tights and slip on some gold booties.

A gray sweater dress over a feminine blouse and wide-legged trousers is perfect for the office.

Let your hair down for dinner with a quick change and wear the outfit as a dress.

Ali Filler: "You can wear it day or night, you can dress it up, you can do it cocktail attire, you can put a belt on and do a cinched waist."

Go casual in a black sweater dress over gray skinny-jeans and flats. Add a big cocktail ring for a pop of color.

Heading to a club later? Lose the jeans and add red heels and you're ready to hit the dance floor.

Ali Filler: "If you're going to make the investment, make it a smart one, and make that the sweater dress."

At Macy's at Dadeland Mall, It's about adding color and sparkle to this cuddly fall look.

Melissa Goff: "Knit dressing is one of the strongest trends this season."

You're not seeing double in these sweater dresses in fushia with matching pumps Sparkle in a gray-knit dress with silver threading.

Or snuggle up in this forest green one by Michael Kors. Pair with a wide belt and tall black boots.

The good news with this trend, any style goes.

Melissa Goff: "Whether it's a tunic, whether it's a dress, a shawl collar or sweater jacket or even knit pants or leggings, it's every silhouette imaginable."

Throw a brown cable knit sweater over a t-shirt and jeans for movie night. Go basic black for a night out on the town, Or layer up or down in royal blue.

Melissa Goff: "What's great about it for us in Florida is it's all about light layering."

Diana Diaz: "Pick a sweater dress in a neutral shade like black, brown or gray. Then add a belt, shoes or jewelry for a pop of color."
