Layering isn't just about throwing a sweatshirt over a T. This hot trend can spice up jeans to a dress. The Nightteam's Diana Diaz shows us how to get the Layered Look in tonight's Fashion Forward.
WSVN -- If you think layering is just for keeping warm, think again.
Jessica Uchuya: "You can layer basically anything."
At Jessie Boutique in Aventura, layering is a big trend for spring.
Jessica Uchuya: "You can do the short over the long, you can do a dressy look or a casual look."
Stay relaxed in J Brand skinny jeans with a cropped jacket over a striped metallic tank.
Try a lightweight turtleneck tee under a cable knit sweater vest and dark denim.
Or go casual chic with the menswear look.
Jessica Uchuya: "You can do jeans with two tanks over each other, you can do a baseball tee with a vest, the menswear look."
When it comes to layering, two dresses are better than one! Take a sweater dress in nude and slip it on over a longer, ruffled slip for a sexy look that's not too short.
A black strapless bubble dress goes glamorous with a cropped sequined jacket and heels.
Just remember the key to layering: keep it light.
Jessica Uchuya: "As long as you do lightweight pieces, then it's great for South Florida."
And layering isn't only for clothes, it's for jewelry too.
At the International Jewelers Exchange, designer Cheryl Greenspoon is creating her own pieces of wearable art, her line Cheryl Lynn.
Cheryl Greenspoon: "Everything is custom made by me and signed by me."
A big trend in necklaces: layer a shorter 14-carat gold chain with a longer one with a tassel at the end. Or try three strands at once with hammered gold discs and pieces of garnet.
Also, don't be afraid to mix and match pearls and stones.
Cheryl Greenspoon: "Layering lots of different pieces that have different colors and different kinds of stones together, it looks great, it adds a lot to an outfit."
Circles are hot right now. This long gold chain looks great when paired with two shorter strands with semi-precious hearts!
Sterling silver shines when you layer two strands with discs and aquamarine stones, or really make a statement with this custom-made piece
Cheryl Greenspoon: "It was handmade by wire, Majorcan pearls as the short strand and freshwater as the longer strand."
When layering jewelry, always start with one long strand and a short one, then go from there. Cheryl's line runs anywhere from $100 to $500.
