Dolce & Gabbana, Giorgio Armani, and Prada all showcased it during fall fashion week. The Russian look is very in this season, but you don't have to travel halfway around the world to wear it. Shireen Sandoval bringing us style "From Russia, with love" in tonight's "Fashion Forward".
WSVN--Dr. Zhivago made the sex kitten look a must have back in the 60's.So did the bond girl in this double-o, seven flick. This fall, the Russian look is one of the season's biggest trends. At Bloomingdale's, there's plenty of Russian dressing, and we're not talking about the salad variety.
Allison Bass from Bloomingdales:"So what would the Russian trend consist of? What would I have to have? The key piece you have to have is the jacket."
Try a velvet-cropped or military style jacket. But be sure to pair it with either jeans or a romantic top and a pretty skirt.
Shireen:"This just in. Pay attention women, skin is not in for this look that's unbelievable! We're covering up! Allison: We're covering up, the jacket is a key piece, boots, you want to tuck into your pants into your boots, so skin is not in."
This season you'll also find plenty of embroidery in feminine and folkloric designs. From velvet to fur, luxe and rich fabrics are big too... The look is warm and inviting.
Shireen:"Living here in south Florida how practical is the Russian look, we do live in a hot climate?
Allison Bass:"Well, the layering is practical and you can mix and match the pieces and it is a timeless look."
You can dress like a czar at a Nose for Clothes in pinecrest. Here it's all about empire waists and plush fabrics.. from Russia with love.
Freda Greenbaum from A Nose for Cloths:"We're talking about romance and evenings and cold, snowy nights. We're talking about the royalty, the czar, the empress, we're talking about the cossack and we're talking about the peasant."
Dress like Russian royalty. Or check out the cossack or calvarymen look... It's all about the Russian princess going out for a ride in this season's must have gaucho pants.
The look is perfect, day or night.
Freda Greenbaum:"It is a season where you are mixing it up, wearing lots of accessories layered onto each other."
Just make sure to stick with colors like brown and even green, and don't forget to accessorize.
Freda Greenbaum:"Women feel that the looks are soft and luxurious. We really feel very comfortable and any age can add this to their wardrobe."
