Fashion Forward: Antik Batik
We've all heard of the three "R's." Well, what about the three "C's"-- as in cool, clean and chunky. Combining these three looks are the way to go this summer. Shireen Sandoval shows us how in tonight's Fashion Forward.
WSVN -- Summertime in South Florida is not just about keeping cool but looking cool.
At En Avance on South Beach, you can get the look with one of the season's hottest labels-- Antik Batik.
"Antik Batik uses a lot of strong color and motifs and embroidery that have a very ethnic feel to it," says En Avance’s Karen Quinones. "Each piece of clothing has a lot of soul to it."
Antik Batik is made in Paris, but the pieces are perfect for South Florida.
It's been around for years, but now celebrities like Uma Thurman are making the line popular.
"The look is very bohemian and very flowy and chic and light and the colors and fabric are all very perfect for Florida actually-- great for the summer," says Quinones.
Head out for a night on the town in this blue chiffon number.
Or dress up a pair of jeans with a detailed v-neck.
This summer, look for bold prints and plenty of sequins -- it's the laid back look of the season.
"Antik Batik likes to mix antique with modern and exotic with lifestyle," says Quinones.
At En Avance, you can complete the look, with jewelry by celebrity designer Devon Paige McCleary.
"The designer loves crosses and rosary so the pieces have also like a vintage heirloom feel to them," says Quinones.
Jennifer Aniston, Hallie Berry and Lenny Kravitz are among his celebrity clientele.
"A lot of celebrities have been photographed in them lately: Jada Pinkett Smith. Oprah got the pave heart for her birthday as a gift," says Quinones.
Pair a charm bracelet with a flowy top.
Or layer several necklaces for a unique look.
"The pieces are all made by hand-- every piece," says Quinones.
And not just in gold and silver-- this jewelry is made of materials like sandalwood and animal tusk.
"With Devon's jewelry and with Antik Batik working together you have your own chic little look," says Quinones. "You can express your own personality with the way you wear the clothing and jewelry."
Antik Batik isn't just for the ladies, the designer carries clothes and accessories for men and children too.
