Fashion Forward: Ethnic chic
Thanks to the internet the world is getting smaller. That means the influence of exotic cultures on fashion gets larger. Ethnic chic is in for spring.
(WSVN) Independent films like Monsoon Wedding are getting rave reviews by movie critics and the music industry is using Indian beats and Indian themes in hit singles like addictive.
Exotic culture is making its way towards America and the fashion world is taking notice.
Dinah Drier, from Kristine Michael, says "With alot of people travelling and picking up trends and alot of the desginers going over to India and Morrocco and Asia they're picking up trends and realizing there's great pieces out there..."
And now the great pieces are here at Kristine Michael in South Miami. They've got silk skirts from India and intricate beaded tops to match. East meets West with Asian inspired silk drawsting pants and embroidery is taking center stage.
"I think they're adding detail wether it's fringe or smucked embroidery or a little bead work i think they're adding a little bit of interest to the clothes."
That interest is carrying over into accessories like handbags and shoes as well.
to complete the look head over to me and ro at the shore club on south beach. the designs here are inspired by other cultures. some of the jewelry even features ancient inscriptions and tibetan mantras.
Robin Renzi, Me & Ro, says "The meanings are universal. I mean courage and strength and faith meanings are universal. It's sort of like a reminder of what you believe in or what your'e working towards..."
Some beautiful pieces.
