Gretta's Got It: Beauty on a Budget
From anti-aging products to acne creams, many of us spend a bundle on the big names in beauty, but do you have to? Senen's style expert Gretta Monahan teams up with a local plastic surgeon to show us how to get "Beauty on a Budget."
WSVN -- Lotions, potions, a lot of us spend big bucks on the brand names, but you don't have to because today i'm going to show you how to look beautiful for less.
Gretta Monahan: "I asked my dear friend Dr. Julio Gallo to join me on a shopping trip to save big bucks.
Dr Gallo: "Exactly, we're going to look at everything available that you can buy for beauty on a budget."
Gretta Monahan: "So let's start with cleanser. What's your favorite in the drugstore?"
Dr Gallo: "I think Cetaphil has the longest history. It was formulated for dermatologists. It's very gentle, it cleanses your skin but doesn't strip it of the essential oils. On a cleanser you don't have to go much above this."
Gretta Monahan: "That's what the doctor says girls we can save here."
Gretta Monahan: "What is your favorite all over for anti-aging?"
Dr. Gallo: "If we have to pick one overall product we do something like Olay Regenerist."
Gretta Monahan: "This must be really good if they keep it under lock and key."
Dr. Gallo: "The beauty of this is that it has multiple ingredients in one product. You have SPF of 15, you have amino peptides, which are antioxidants."
Gretta Monahan: "I know the one thing that is important to everyone no matter where you live is SPF. Do i save or do i have to splurge?"
Dr. Gallo: "SPF products you don't need an expensive one. I really love Anthelios. It was available in Europe for many years and now it's available here in drugstores. It provides protection against UVA and UVB."
Dr. Gallo: "Tell me about the eyes beaause that's my area doc I see all the lines."
Dr. Gallo "Around the eye area is where you may want to splurge. Companies like Skin Medica make great specialty items for around the eyes. It's a higher potency, better ingredients and it's going to give you the results around the eye area."
If there's one thing you need to do for acne where you can save, what is it?
Dr. Gallo: "The Clean and Clear Advantage has the kit with everything in it, the cleanser, moisturizer, spot treatment, salicylic acid and benzoyl peroxide."
Gretta Monahan: "My favorite thing i like to save on is Dove energy glow. It is beautiful, moisturizing and a little touch of self tanner. OK, i've got everything i need and i didn't have to break the bank."
